Ann Arbor, MI — August 13, 2009 — Less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Con-way Freight has taken the wraps of its new Global LTL offering, which wraps a portfolio of the company's worldwide LTL services into a single suite aimed at helping customers understand and leverage the breadth of its worldwide services.

Services offered under Global LTL have been created expressly by Con-way Freight or through strategic alliances with global counterparts. Customers will now be able to work through Con-way Freight to take advantage of the same services they are accustomed to in the United States, only on a global scale, the company said.

Additionally, with various online tools and the convenience of a one-stop solution, customers gain visibility and control from country to country and shipment to shipment, Con-way said.

"The need for shippers to connect LTL service to a worldwide customer and supplier base has increased significantly over the past few years, and Con-way Freight has expanded its suite of services accordingly," said John G. Labrie, president of Con-way Freight. "Global LTL brings all of our worldwide solutions under one umbrella, making it more convenient than ever for shippers to quickly and intuitively locate the LTL service that best meets their needs."

Con-way Freight's Global LTL services include service from Europe with Con-way Freight and TNT, with day-definite service from Europe to the continental United States, transit times of three to six days, door-to-door service, Simplified pricing that is inclusive of customs services, and visibility with online tracking and tracing of shipments.

Service from Asia to the United States, Canada and Mexico will be performed through the OceanGuaranteed service offered by Con-way Freight with APL Logistics, which is touted as providing more than 60 percent savings over airfreight for shipments from Asia. This service offers guaranteed, day-definite service from Asia to the United States, Canada and Mexico; day-definite, on-time delivery rate of 99 percent; port-to-door pricing on a single invoice; "unlimited capacity," including peak season; and departures from 11 key Asian ports, according to Con-way Freight.

Service from the United States to the Caribbean will be through TropicalDirect, which unites the LTL capabilities of Con-way Freight with the LCL capabilities of Tropical Shipping to offer direct service to more than 30 Bahamian and Caribbean ports. Shippers will be able to take advantage of single-provider accountability, port-to-door service, end-to-end shipment tracking via Web tools, documentation and personalized service to minimize paperwork, and less handling of freight, reducing the risk of damage, Con-way Freight said.

Finally, Domestic Offshore service provides the same customer experience when shipping within the contiguous United States. Key benefits, according to Con-way Freight, include multiple sailings to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico; streamlined pre-booking procedures; and online tools for tracking.
